There are different types of visas available for the Solomon Islands. You will be required a visa even if you are transiting through the Solomon Islands unless you are from a visa-exempt group. The Solomon Islands-EU Visa Waiver Agreement provides for visa-free travel for citizens of the Union and the Solomon Islands when travelling to the territory of the other Contracting Party for a maximum period of 90 days in any 180-day period.
Solomon Islands Short-term Visitor Visa
You can apply for the Solomon Islands Short-term Visitor visa for realizing your temporary travel to the Solomon Islands. Reasons to apply for this type of visa can be tourism, visiting family or friends, business trips, Short-term education, exchange programs, Short-term Visitor work, and many other non-permanent nuances. The minimum period of stay for holders of visas is 6 weeks, with a maximum combined period of 90 days. The Border Control Unit of the Immigration Division is responsible for processing this visa class on behalf of the Director of Immigration.

Solomon Islands Short-term Visitor Visa Fee

Since the processing and issuance of visas are still carried out at the Headquarters of the Immigration Division in Honiara, a visa application fee of SBD 200 for the Solomon Islands must be paid, and payment must be received with all requirements, even if visa applications are made outside the Solomon Islands.

Where to Apply for Solomon Islands Short-term Visitor Visa?
You will apply for a Solomon Islands Short-term Visitor Visa in Solomon Islands visa application centers, embassies, or consulates, whichever accepts visa applications in your country of residence or to the Director of Immigration. If there is none of them in your country, you need to apply to the nearest embassy or consulate to your location.
Solomon Islands Long-term Visa
Long term visas are given to foreign nationals who wish to reside (usually for the purpose of starting up a business, investing, job, studying, trade, or for religious purposes) must apply to the Director of Immigration for a visa to enter and reside prior to entering the Solomon Islands. The maximum validity of a visa to enter and stay is two years. Present visa holders wishing to further prolong their stay in the Solomon Islands must apply to the Director of Immigration two months prior to the expiry of their current visa with all conditions issued.
The Long-term visas are issued by the Labour Division, Ministry of Trade, Industries, Labour, and Immigration. The Long-term visas must be sent with the application for permission to enter and stay prior to arrival.

Enable holders to join and remain in the Solomon Islands for employment purposes. The length of stay for visa holders is 2 years. Present visa holders wishing to prolong their stay in the Solomon Islands must apply to the Director of Immigration two months prior to the expiry of their current visa with all conditions issued. The Immigration Division’s Permit Unit is responsible for processing this visa class on behalf of the Director of Immigration.

The length of stay for student visa holders is less than a month longer than the duration of the course the student is taking. Solomon Islands Free Permit on Arrival
Some of the visitors to the Solomon Islands can obtain Free Permit on Arrival. For a period of 30 days, a visitor can engage in industry, career, or employment without complying with condition 2 above. However, a maximum of above and beyond 30 days must comply with condition 2 above. A tourist may stay in the Solomon Islands for any time or periods in the aggregate, not exceeding three months in any period of twelve months. A visitor’s visa can be extended past the 3 months for a longer-term or aggregated duration of up to 3 months if there are exceptional conditions supporting the extension.
