Taiwan visa types

There are various types of Taiwan visas.
Some foreign nationals wishing to travel to Taiwan (officially known as the Republic of China or the Republic of Korea) need a Taiwan visa, depending on the purpose of their trip as well as the length of stay. There are two main types of visas:

 

  1. The Taiwanese visitor visa, most commonly referred to as the Taiwan tourist visa, is issued for a stay of up to 90 days.
  2. A resident visa for Taiwan, which is issued for a stay of more than 90 days. Taiwan Work Visa, Student Visa, Family Reunification Visa, etc. Are types of Resident Visa.


Taiwan E-visa 

Travellers of certain nationalities can apply online for an electronic visa (eVisa) for Taiwan.
Please note that eVisa is only issued for tourism and business purposes and for visiting relatives and attending International Conferences or sporting events. If you want to travel to Taiwan for other purposes - such as Study, Employment, Homestay, or Chinese language courses - you must apply for the appropriate type of visa at the ROC overseas mission.
 

Taiwan visa requirements 

Visa requirements may vary depending on several factors such as the method of applying for a visa, the type of visa and your nationality.
The visa photo size should be 3.5 x 4.5 inches.

Taiwan visa processing time

The average processing time depends on the country you are applying from, but it usually does not take long, ranging from  3-7 business days from receipt of your completed application. You should check with the Taiwanese diplomatic mission through which you are applying to make sure.
However, it may take longer to obtain resident visas.

 
Taiwan visa fee

The Taiwan e-visa fee is NT$1,646 (approximately US$59). The e-visa application fee is NT$1,600 + NT$46 fee for processing an online credit card payment. The fee may vary depending on the eVisa category, country, and nationality.

The fee for a visa to Taiwan through the embassy/consulate is US$50-100 (this may vary depending on your country and nationality). In addition, you may also be required to pay other administrative fees such as Visa Application Centre fees, courier fees, etc., depending on your country and where you submit your documents.
