You can make a planned trip to Oman by obtaining an Oman visa. Foreign nationals can apply to Oman for short-term visas (tourist visa, eVisa) for temporary reasons (tourism, cultural, business, and other short-term purposes). If you would like to stay longer for any reason (e.g., study, work, etc.), you can also apply for a long-term visa for Oman.

Do I need visa to go to Oman?

If you are a resident of one of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries, you do not need an Oman visa. Otherwise, you will need a visa for Oman. It is best to apply for an Oman visa before arriving in the country. Though, residents from certain countries can apply for a visa on arrival. 

Oman visa types

Visas to Oman are broadly divided into tourist visa, employment visa, visa to visit relatives/friends, family/resident visa, resident investor and student visa, and transit visa. They can be issued as a single entry, double-entry, or multiple-entry visas. A single-entry visa allows a single entry, while holders of a double-entry visa may travel twice within a predetermined period, and a multiple-entry visa allows consecutive visits. E-visa applications can be processed online, while citizens of some countries are entitled to obtain a visa on arrival.

How many types of tourist Oman visa are there?

Three primary types of tourist visa exist for Oman; single entry for up to 10 days, single entry for up to 30 days, and multiple entries for up to one year. It’s essential to decide which Oman visa is best for your needs before applying. Consider the length of your stay and intent before submitting an Oman visa application. Typically, 10-day or 30-day visas are sufficient for travelers visiting Oman for pleasure. A 30-day visa is the most commonly chosen visa, and it applies to 67 nationalities. 

It's important to note that each type of tourist visa also has a different fee associated with it. The longer the stay, the higher the fee you will have to pay for the visa. 

Oman E-visa 

Oman e visa is an online method of obtaining a visa to travel to Oman.

The Sultanate of Oman introduced an e-visa on 21 March 2018. tourist, business, and express visa applications can be submitted online. Thus, as of 21 March 2018, tourist or express visas are no longer issued by the police at Oman's borders (airports, border posts, and consular offices of countries exempted from Oman's visa regime).

If you are not eligible for Oman eVisa, you can also apply for a short-stay tourist visa on paper for your trip to Oman. Oman tourist visa is issued to applicants intending to visit Oman for tourism and sightseeing purposes.

Oman visa requirements

An applicant is only eligible if they meet the requirements. The main requirements are:

  • Passport must be valid for six months.
  • Applicants must submit a copy of the confirmation page of the application form with the date and signature of the applicant or a printout of the Oman eVisa.
  • The applicant must provide photographs (photo size 4x6 cm), which must be visible and identical to the photograph contained in the passport.
  • Copy of flight booking ticket and hotel booking ticket.
  • The applicant must provide their recent bank statement.

Can I get Oman visa at airport?

How can I get Oman 10-day visa?

The 10-day visa is appropriate for those who only need a single-entry to Oman. This visa for Oman cannot be extended and must be used within a 90-day period. Those who wish to apply for a 10-day visa to Oman will need to prepare a tourist visa application, a recent passport photograph that adheres to the standards set by Oman, any other applicable documents, and have a passport that is valid for a minimum of six months while traveling. 

How many days does it take to get Oman visa?

The Oman visa is issued only after filling in the application form with the relevant details and paying in full. Processing time varies depending on the urgency of the visa.

Oman visa cost

The fee for an eVisa to Oman is 5 OMR for a 10-day valid eVisa, 20 OMR for a 30-day valid eVisa, and 50 OMR for one year valid multiple-entry eVisa (these may vary depending on your country and nationality).

The fee for a visa to Oman through the embassy/consulate for foreign nationals is 20 OMR. The visa fee may vary depending on your nationality or the country where you have applied.

Is Oman visa free for UAE residents?

Six countries are not required to apply for a standard Oman evisa or visa, including the United Arab Emirates. As residents of this country are not required to have a visa, they do not need to pay any fees. It's important to note that those from the UAE will still need a valid passport for entry. Once inside Oman, UAE residents can stay indefinitely. 

Which countries require a visa for Oman?

All foreign visitors to Oman (except citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council) require visas for the duration of their stay.

How long can you stay in Oman without a visa?

Only those who are nationals from the 103 approved countries can remain in Oman without a visa. If you are a national from the approved country list, you can stay in the country for up to 14 days. The other exception for traveling in Oman without a visa is for those visiting from a GCC country. 

Oman visa for US citizen

The Oman visa for US citizen adheres to the above-provided requirements for a standard Oman visa. US citizens who wish to enter Oman are required to have a valid passport and an Oman visa or Oman evisa. It is necessary to apply for an Oman evisa before traveling to the country. 

Additional notes for US travelers include ensuring your valid passport contains one blank page per required stamp and declaring amounts of $20,000 or more upon entry and exit of the country.
