All nationals of all countries who usually require a visa to travel to Suriname can also apply for an eVisa for Suriname.
Citizens who are visa-exempt can also apply for an eVisa to extend their stay (more than a few days without a visa) in Suriname.

If you are sending a Suriname visa application online for an eVisa, you need to upload the following documents depending on the eVisa category (Tourist, Transit, Business, Short Stay).
The passport you use to apply must be the same as the one you will be using when traveling to Suriname. If it is not the same, your e-tourist card will be noted as invalid.
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your arrival in Suriname.
When applying for an E-Tourist Card, make sure that the information you provide exactly matches the information in your passport. Otherwise, your E-Tourist Card will be invalid.
You need to pay a fee when you apply for a visa for Suriname. This Suriname e visa fee will depend on the type and duration of your visa. You must pay the Suriname visa fee using a MasterCard, Visa, and Maestro credit or debit card.
The fee for an electronic Visa to Suriname is US$15-360, depending on the eVisa category.
The fee for the Suriname e-Tourist Card is US$40.
An additional service charge of US$20 is also applicable for all application types.
The Suriname visa application is processed within 3-7 business days. This may take longer if it is during a holiday.
The only way to stay in Suriname without a visa is by using a tourist card. This is slightly different than a tourist visa. While you will need to pay the same fee and go through the same process, the tourist card has fewer documents needed.
You will still need to apply for a tourist card through the online platform, like a tourist visa. The fee for each is $60 (including a service fee).
The tourist card will allow you to stay in Suriname for a maximum of 90 days.
Yes, you will need a Suriname visa for US citizens if you visit for reasons other than tourism. These reasons can include a business meeting or other business affairs.
There is an exception to this rule, as US citizens who are traveling with a US passport (valid) can also opt for a tourist card/tourist visa. This card allows one trip and entry to Suriname for tourist purposes only.
The steps to receive a Suriname visa from Nigeria is similar to receiving it from other countries. The visa will need to be submitted and approved online. The following steps will allow Nigerian citizens to travel to Suriname.
As a note, approval of a Suriname visa has a three-year visa validity and the ability to stay up to 90 days.

The process of becoming a resident is more extensive than obtaining a visa. The first step you will need to take is applying for a tourist or visitor's visa. Then, you will need to continue with the process of extending the visa.
This requires the following:
You can extend your visa for six months or one year at a time. Once you have been in Suriname for five years, you can apply to be a permanent resident.
Once you have a permanent residency, you cannot leave Suriname for more than one year. Otherwise, your residency will be canceled.
The process for a work permit is more complicated because your employer is in control. The employer will need to initiate the process and file the correct paperwork to access a work permit. Your employer will need to obtain your signature on the filled-out paperwork. Otherwise, there may be a delay.

In previous years, you could get a visa on arrival in Suriname regardless of the trip's intention. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. You cannot get a visa when you arrive in Suriname. You will need to be preapproved for a Suriname visa before trying to enter the country. Please follow the steps above or contact us for additional support.
There are some exceptions to this note. For example, if you have a diplomatic, official, service, or Interpol passport with an invitation from the Suriname Authority and you are visiting on duty. Most will not fall under this category, so preparing your visa in advance will be necessary.
