FAQ

What is the earliest date I can apply for a visa?

You can apply for a visa at the earliest three (3) months before planned arrival to Moldova.

When entering Moldova, do I need to present any documents other than my passport and visa?

A valid visa is not a guarantee of entry to Moldova. You may have to satisfy other legal requirements.

Third-country nationals may be allowed to enter Moldova if they:

  • Possess a valid travel document which allows its holder to cross borders;
  • Possess a valid visa, if required;
  • Justify the purpose and conditions of their intended stay and have sufficient means of subsistence both during their intended stay and for return to their country of origin or transit to a third country;
  • Do not have an alert issued for them to refuse entry;
  • Are not considered to be a threat to public policy, international security, public health, or international relations.

This means that a police officer, during border control, may ask you to present both notifications and documents that justify the purpose and conditions of your stay in Moldova and the evidence that you have sufficient means of subsistence.

The sufficient means of subsistence equal to 70 EUR per day of your intended stay in Moldova. If you have a notarized letter of guarantee by a natural or legal person from Moldova, proof of the paid travel package, or a similar document, your means of subsistence should equal 30 EUR per day of your intended stay in Moldova. On the other hand, if you have a notarized letter of guarantee by a natural or legal person in Moldova showing that your guarantor assumes full responsibility for all costs related to your stay in Moldova and your departure from Moldova, you are exempt from presenting documents supporting your means of subsistence.

Can I have my Moldova visa extended?

Visa can be extended following an official request addressed to the Bureau for Migration and Asylum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova provided that the right of stay is less than 90 days so that the duration of the total stay should not exceed 90 days during six months from the arrival in the country. The prolongation of the visa can take place for the same purpose it has been initially granted.

The short-stay visa by which a period of stay of less than 90 days has been granted may be extended by new terms so that the total duration of the stay granted does not exceed 90 calendar days during any period of 180 calendar days, which implies consideration of the last 180-day period preceding each day of stay. The extension of the visa may take place only for the same purpose for which it was granted.

The visa extension application shall be submitted to the competent authority for aliens at least three working days before the expiration of the term established in the visa.

How long does it take to get a Moldovan visa?

Standard visa processing time is 15 calendar days from the day of receipt of the application at the Embassy. In case the documents are not submitted as per requirements or due to other factors or justified reasons, the processing time may be extended to 30 or 60 days.

Can I work with a Moldova visa?

It depends on the type of visa you apply for. As a foreign national, you are not permitted to work in Moldova unless your expressly stated purpose when applying for a visa was employment.
