Visa Types & Categories to Apply for Bermuda

Bermuda entry visas and visa waivers will no longer be required for tourist and business visitors and holders of work permits.

In order to be landed in Bermuda, the following requirements must be met:

  • All travelers should apply for Bermuda Travel Authorisation.
  • All travelers requiring a multi-re-entry visa (MRV) must submit this type of visa upon arrival in Bermuda.
  • The MRV for the United Kingdom, the United States, or Canada shall be valid for a period of 45 days after the expiry of a visitor's stay and/or work permit.
  • All travelers must have a passport that is valid for a period of 45 days after the expiration of the travel and/or works permit (Note: US Passport Cards are not permitted for use for travel to Bermuda by air)

Applications for Bermuda entry visas and multi re-entry visas can be made at the UK, USA, Canada Embassy/consulate, in the nation’s country.

Nationals requiring multiple-entry visas to travel to/from Bermuda via Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States must have at least 45 days left on that visa beyond the date of departure from Bermuda.

Please check the visa requirements for Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States to check whether you need a visa to travel through one of these countries.

All visitors must be in possession of either a return ticket or an onward ticket. Before you travel, you must book your accommodation in Bermuda.

If you wish to extend your stay by more than 21 days, you must apply to the Department of Immigration of Bermuda.

Multi-re-entry visas:

Visa Controlled Nationals arriving at our borders requiring visas to transit through another country to Bermuda will also require a visa to travel to the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom on their return leg. This, referred to as a multi-re-entry visa, allows more than one entry to ensure that travelers are not stranded in Bermuda without being able to leave.

Persons whose MRV and passport validity is less than 45 days shall not be landed. For clarity, the passport rule (45 days of validity) applies only to travelers who require an MRV. For persons arriving to take up residence in Bermuda as spouses or dependents of Bermuda and requiring an MRV, the requirement to have an MRV valid for 45 days will be considered null and void as the period of stay in Bermuda is considered to be more permanent.

Where an employer applies for a new work permit for a resident holder of a work permit requiring an MRV, the Immigration Department will process and issue a work permit. The issuance of a work permit shall assist with the application for the MRV. Department of Immigration may request that the employer deposit a sum of money (estimated) with the Chief Immigration Officer to cover the repatriation of the holder of a work permit and of his/her spouse and dependent(s); including the cost of requiring two senior immigration inspectors to provide a travel escort to the home country.

In addition, an administration fee of $208.00 will be charged to the employer if repatriation estimates are required by the Department of Immigration. If repatriation with assistance from the Department of Immigration is not required, the deposited amount will be refunded by the Accountant General through normal procedures.
