Barbados Visa Policy

Visa is issued in the form of a letter. Barbados immigration officers will accept this letter at the port of entry.

The following persons are exempted from obtaining a visa

• Passengers in cruise ship transiting from airport to cruise terminal and vice versa
• Passengers in cruise ship arriving and departing on the said vessel
• Crew members who arrive at the airport and plan to transit to the vessel within 12 hours. However, if they overnight obtaining a visa is mandatory
• Passengers who transit to another destination within 12 hours are not required a visa. Such passengers are considered Direct Transit Passengers and will be accommodated in the arrival terminal until he/she proceeds with onward flight

• One passport size (3x4) photo

3. Passport and Copy of the Outer Cover and Biometric Page

• It must be valid at least for 6 months
• The passport itself is not required unless the applicant wants a visa to be validated on his/her passport
• If you send your passport include a prepaid airway receipt for the passport return

4. National Identity Card and Resident Permit/Visa Copy (if Your Country of Residence and Citizenship are Different)

5. Birth and Marriage Certificate (where applicable)

6. Travel Itinerary

• Copy of round-trip flight ticket reservation

7. Cover Letter

• The letter must be addressed to the Chief Immigration Officer
• It should include contact details (return address, email address, phone number)
• The purpose and duration of the visit, date of entry, and exit should be outlined

8. Proof of Current Professional Status

• Letter from employer
• Letter from educational institutions (school, university and etc.)

9. Banker’s Draft

• It must be addressed to Chief Immigration Officer
• Must be signed and dated

10. For Minors:

• Copy and English translation of either birth certificate/proof of adoption/custody decree if parents are divorced/death certificate of parent
• Permit letter by parents/guardians if minor is traveling alone or permit letter by one of the guardians/parents in case of minor is traveling with one of them

1. Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Student Status

• Completed H-1 and H-2 Forms
• It is not required from CARICOM nationals who are under the age of 16
• H-1 form is completed by registered educational institution
• H-2 form is completed by the student
  • If the student is a minor it is completed by a parent or guardian

2. Passport and Copy of the Main Page

3. Birth Certificate

• Original birth certificate of the applicant.
• A notarized copy is also accepted

4. Photos

• Two passport size photos

5. Marriage Certificate (if applicable)

6. Proof of Financial Means

• Sufficient funds to cover school, medical, and living expenses
• Bank statement
• Proof of scholarship
• Sponsorship letter
  • Legal document to show sponsor’s readiness (means) to support must be included

7. Proof of Accommodation

8. Acceptance Letter

• The letter must be from a registered educational institution by the Ministry of Education
• Duration and schedule details must be included

9. Police Clearance Certificate

• It must be obtained from each country where you have resided for at least 6 months with the last 3 years

Short-term Work permit is valid for up to 11 months, while the validity of a Long-term Work permit is up to 3 years. In order to be eligible for Long-term Work permit evidence of the absence of a Barbadian national who is eligible to work in that position by the employer must be presented.
